FAQ
Do I need a referral to call for an exam appointment?
No, you can call our office anytime to answer your orthodontic questions
Do braces hurt?
Whenever teeth move, they will be a little sore. After a few nights, this minor discomfort fades away. Whatever you take for headaches can help.
What age should I bring my child to see you?
The earlier the better. By age 7, I can predict what sort of crowding or profile problems we will be facing. Severe problems require a 2 phase type treatment and we start at about age 9. More moderate problems can wait until all the permanent teeth are coming in at age 11. We will plan when the best time to start treatment is for your child, to achieve the best results in the shortest time.
Will insurance pay for this treatment?
Many companies now have partial orthodontic coverage for their employees. We will preauthorize any treatment that is necessary, so you will know what your plan will pay. They often cover about half of the average orthodontic fee.
Is this just cosmetic?
No. Crooked teeth tend to be food traps and build up more plaque and tarter. This leads to a tendency to have more gum problems, including recession. So a beautiful smile is also a healthier smile!
How long does treatment take?
Full braces normally take about 2 years to correct bite problems and straighten the teeth.
Do you treat adults?
Yes. Adults have many treatment options ranging from clear braces, to clear aligners that can correct moderate problems without braces.
